Seven years in the making, Brown Girl Magazine, LLC, launches a new look that will continue to resonate well with its niche South Asian readership living in the diaspora.

What started as a blog for a class project with one mission — to create a community dedicated to young, smart, hip, beautiful South Asian American — is now a daily publication read worldwide.

Founded in 2008 with a three-person staff, Brown Girl Magazine now consists of more than 45 freelance writers and 10 administrators spanning across the country. As an all-volunteer staff, to date, they have published more than 1,400 stories, features and interviews on BrownGirlMagazine.com.

Brown Girl Magazine’s stories feature hard-hitting issues that relate to women’s empowerment, cultural and religious taboos, and current events that matter to the South Asian diaspora. The publication has also profiled hundreds of strong women and men, showcased non-traditional career paths, highlighted beauty and fashion trends, as well as covered up-to-date entertainment news. The magazine’s organic growth could not have been possible without its readers and supporters. Through the years, it has established a dedicated following from not only the United States but also India, Canada, the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and other South Asian regions.

As a group of empowered women, Brown Girl aims to create a safe online and offline space where young South Asian women around the world can share ideas, learn, and grow to respect their identity

Having hundreds of events, sponsors and supporters under our belt, Brown Girl has decided to turn the page and launch a brand new website and logo! The revamped space will allow for more high-quality content with a new modern look, but with the same feel and dedication our readers know and love.

Be sure to check out the newly launched website and comment below with your thoughts. And as always, continue supporting Brown Girl Magazine in every way you can.

-Always Stay Smart. Hip. Beautiful.
