Just because you are a university student on a tight budget certainly does not mean that you can’t have fun and enjoy entertainment on a regular basis. This is true whether you are attending college in order to get your bachelor’s degree or you are going for a more advanced degree like those offered through online doctoral nursing programs. So continue reading for a few ways that you can have fun without breaking the bank.

Look for Local Deals and Activities

Having fun on a budget is easy when you access discounts and deals to local attractions and activities. Check out sites like Groupon, where you can find a host of fun things to do right in your own neighborhood. The discounts will give you a chance to get some friends together and try something new, whether you are trying out a new restaurant in the area, you go mini golfing, or you attend a painting class that includes free wine.

Seek Out Free Events Locally

Your neighborhood also likely hosts some fantastic free events that you can enjoy. For example, there might be a free concert that you can attend in town that features local musicians. Or you might be able to find a fair or carnival that you can attend to have some fun with your friends. You might even come across some neat poetry readings at a local coffee shop, where you can sit and relax while enjoying a cup of coffee and listening to talented writers share their work.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

Whether you head to the beach to lay on the sand or you go hiking with friends on a mountain, the natural world offers plenty of opportunities to have fun for free, or at least affordable if you have to pay an entrance fee to a park. You can even entertain yourself at night by heading out to a more remote area where you can enjoy some stargazing with your companions.

Subscribe to Netflix

Netflix is a really affordable service that allows you to stream TV shows and movies, or receive DVDs in the mail if that is what you would prefer. You can always have something to watch and make you laugh whenever you need to unwind and get your mind off of your studies. Whether you are attending a brick and mortar school or you are going for your BSN to DNP online, you can entertain yourself, as well as invite friends over for some fun on the weekend, when you have Netflix. And it will only cost you a few dollars a month to subscribe!

So go ahead and come up with a few different plans that will ensure you will be able to establish a good work-life balance that will help you maintain your sanity until you get your degree.
