Unanimously, we can all agree that Fall is the best season for fashion. Not to mention, yummy fall foods and pretty leaves, which easily out do the scorching heat of Summer or the blistering cold winds of Winter.

This fall, I’m feeling inspired by Anjana Raj, of Bangle Banger, a versatile fashion blogger who showcases a wide variety of “Diasporic Desi Styles.”

It’s unapologetic, cute, and cultural without ever feeling boring or bland. Raj’s style, an amalgam of pashminas, saris, crop tops, lace, and leather combine into a beautiful melody and richness in her creations that seems like a call to action.

Clicking through her many looks makes me want to just get my nails done, throw on a sari blouse and leather jacket, and then conquer the world. So, we’ve set out to create three looks inspired by her blog that a bit more casual and applicable for our lives as college students.

My model, Shishu and I have created three Banger Bangles-inspired looks from items we had in our closets.

Kurta

Now, a kurta is a pretty basic piece of clothing by itself, usually worn as a shirt or dress. Here we tucked in the kurta and wore it with some vintage boyfriend jeans.

Other casual options could be dressing it with leather jacket and a skirt, or with leggings and a cardigan. Raj wore a menswear-inspired formal look, dressed up with more traditional jewelry.

Duputta

Duputta are great accessories for days that you want to wear a simple outfit. We dressed up a plain black dress and wore the duputta like a scarf. Raj uses hers as a cape of sorts, and makes it the focus of her otherwise modest outfit.

Kameez

We chose to use a super colorful kameez and black pants for a gloomy autumn day. But, depending on what you have you can pretty much match anything with a kameez and make it look good.
